The Pope: Protector of Pedophiles?

The Pope (then Cardinal Ratzinger) wrote and enforced the policy for 20 years before holding the highest office in the church. Bishops hid and coddled pedophile priests all while which includes performing the Seal of Confession on its victims effectively threatening its victims with ex-communication. Vatican has imposed absolute silence to be notified first of child abuse, not authorities

When Ratzinger became Pope Benedict XVI, he did not drop this shameful policy. Instead, he revised the Crimen Sollicitationis to impose more sanctions of silence on its bishops and priests! The un-Holy See requires Bishops and Priests to report cases child abuse and rape to the Vatican first. The Vatican will determine whether or not to call the authorities. Even after all of the publicized scandals in Washington D.C., Boston and London, it is strange that the revised document neither penalizes these predators nor include measures to help its victims' report these horrific crimes to the police.
